National basketball team coach Moise Mutokambali says his team will have nothing to lose when they make their debut in the Mozambique 38th independence anniversary tournament scheduled for June 24-27 in Maputo.The former national team player Mutokambali said he is confident his team will do well in the three-nation tournament that also has hosts Mozambique and African top team Angola."We have a good side but many players will be playing in their first continental competition. The opponents are so strong, which means we will have to perform at our best level if we want to win the tournament,” he told Times Sport before the team’s departure on Saturday.He added, "This team is still young. They need time to show their full capacity to be able to compete at the highest level and I hope the more competitions we play, the better the team will become.”The players that got the nod for the first time include; Espoir pair youngster Placide Uwizeye and Congolese-born Bievenu Ngandu, USA-Ashiville Christian Academybased Patrice Twagirayezu APR duo Mouhamed Rafiki Sunny Niyomugabo Munyandamutsa.The competition will be used as part of preparations for this year’s 27th African basketball championships slated for August 20-31 in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.
