U19 team taste first defeat on Turkey tour

ThursdayBahcaleivler  3-0  RwandaTuesdayBahcelievler 1- 3 RwandaRwanda U19 boys’ volleyball team lost the fourth warm-up game against senior side of Bahcaleivler 3-0 played in Ankara on Thursday evening.The Rwandan youngsters had been unstoppable in first three friendly games against Turkish sides but lost the fourth game 3-0 (25-18, 25-16 and 25-23) against a more experienced side.The national youth team played the third friendly match on Tuesday evening against U19 youth team of Bahcelievler which they won 3-1 (20-25, 20-25, 25-12, and 25-23).Meanwhile, one of the promising stars in Volleyball Samuel ‘Tyson’ Niyogisubizo has challenged his teammate’s ahead of forthcoming World Championships due in Tijuana and Mexicali from June 27 through July 7.The team continue the trainings in Turkey and warm up games where it will play other two warm up games this week.The 17-year-old says,” there’s no excuse for us, we have been trained well, and we have been given everything by our coaches, so we have to be ahead of the world cup.”"We need to have confidence when we are going to meet big teams across the world but what I can say is to be ready for the tournament”."We played big games in Turkey for the preparations so we need to wake up and stand for our country and give everything so that we can achieve in world championships”. "We still have friendly games and I think these games will help us before going to Mexico,”Last week, the U19 team had won their first friendly game against ES Volleyball U15 of Kartal Koy Hizmetleri Academy in four sets, 25-15, 25-5, 25-16, and 25-17. Jean Marie Nsengiyumva’s boys also won the second game against a select side 3-1 (25-12, 25-23, 25-27, 25-20).The team will depart for Mexico next week ahead of the world cup; Rwanda will play against France, Russia, Iran and Finland in Pool C at the High Performance Centre in Tijuana.
