The Rwandese Socialist Labour Party (PSR) will in the next five years focus on the promotion of labour and workers, youth empowerment, gender promotion and East African Community integration.The announcement was made on Tuesday by party chairman, MP Jean Baptiste Rucibigango during the launch of the party’s five-year programme in Kigali. Rucibigango said the party will promote vocational training and job creation. "Access to bank loans to start income generating projects remains with challenges. We will link solidarity groups, civil society and cooperatives to financial institutions to facilitate easy access to loans,’’ he said.As regards regional integration, the party will promote Rwandan-owned companies investment in EAC partner states.The PSR’s first secretary in charge of liaising with labour unions, Augustin Hitiyaremye, said that emphasis will be put on equipping jobseekers with entrepreneurial skills to start their own businesses.Other components of the programme include promotion of unity and reconciliation, poverty reduction, youth employment, environment protection, culture, sports and entertainment.
