AS Kigali win women league title unbeaten

AS Kigali won a record-extending fifth consecutive women national football league title without losing a single game throughout the whole season that concluded on Wednesday.The City of Kigali-sponsored side reached this unprecedented unbeaten record after hammering Les Lionnais 5-0 in their last game of the season in which they dropped just two points out of a possible 60.AS Kigali head coach, Grace Nyinawumuntu expressed her gratitude to whoever played a part in making sure the team achieve another milestone, "I have nothing much to say other than saying a big thank you to our sponsors, the fans, the players.”"I thank the City of Kigali once again for their support, the media that have been with us the whole season and the coaching staff and the players, who made it possible for us to retain the title,” she told Times Sport.The former Rwanda international centre back also wished good luck to AS Kigali men’s team ahead of their clash against AS Muhanga in the final of this year’s Peace Cup against Malaria on July 4 at Amahoro National Stadium.  Nyinawumuntu’s team dropped two points this season in the 1-1 against The Winners, who went on finish second, 15 points behind the champions and one point ahead of former champions APR in third place.
