Ethiopia Defence Force team on five-day study tour

A delegation of three Officers from Ethiopia Defence Force Women Affairs Centre arrived in Rwanda on Monday for a five day study tour.

A delegation of three Officers from Ethiopia Defence Force Women Affairs Centre arrived in Rwanda on Monday for a five day study tour.The delegation, led by Col. Leterbrhan Kahasy Berish, paid a courtsey call on Chief of Defence Staff, Lt Gen Charles Kayonga and the Minister of Defence, James Kabarebe.During their tour, the delegation will be briefed about the Rwanda Defence Forces, particularly the role played by women in RDF during the liberation, development and peacekeeping, according to a statement. On Monday, the delegation accompanied by the Head of RDF Gender Desk, Maj Margaret Batamuriza visited Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre. After laying wreaths at mass graves where over 250,000 victims of the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi were buried, the delegation toured different parts of the memorial and were briefed about the history of Rwanda from the pre-colonial period to the Genocide against the Tutsi.From the visit at Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre Col Leterbrhan Kahasy noted that human beings can influence positive change. "I think human kind can change bad things to the good things because I know this country is heading in the right direction,” Col Leterbrhan Kahasy said .
