APR coach eyes Volleyball league title

APR volleyball club head coach Sammy Mutemi Mulinge has tipped his side to win this year’s league after beating rivals National University of Rwanda 3-0 on Sunday.

APR volleyball club head coach Sammy Mutemi Mulinge has tipped his side to win this year’s league after beating rivals National University of Rwanda 3-0 on Sunday.Talking to Times Sport, Mulinge said, "We are on the top of the league, which is good for us and we are determined to retain our title.”The six-time league winners also beat Christ Roi 3-0 in Group One to continue leading the volleyball league table standing with 42 points after wrapping up their season.The National University of Rwanda have 36 points with two games to play against Kigali Volleyball Club and Lycee de Nyanza, who have many of their players away on national duty with the youth national team at this year’s world championships in Mexico. NUR is level on point league debutants INATEK, who have one game left on their season. If NUR win their two games, they will be level with APR. Christ Roi sits bottom of the nine-team table with 13 points. After eighth round, the top four in league will need to meet again to decide the winner of the league.
