Five Rwandan athletes have started intensive preparations in high altitude Kenya ahead of this year’s World Athletics Championship as well as the Francophone Games.The athletes include; Claudette Mukasakindi [10,000m], Frederick Habakurama [marathon] and Eric Sebahire, who will take part in the 2013 Francophone Games due to be held in Nice, France in September.Robert Kajuga [10,000m] and Jean Pierre Mvuyekure [marathon] are the other athletes, who will be gearing up for the World Athletics Championships set to be held in Moscow in August.The pair secured qualification for the World Athletics Championships after getting the minimum requirements at last year’s London Olympic Games.The Rwanda Athletics Federation Secretary General Johnson Rukundo told Times Sport yesterday, "The athletes reached Nairobi safely early this week. They will train until late July for those heading to Russia while those heading to France will leave in mid September.After poor performances in previous editions, Rwanda athletics federation is working harder to ensure that their athletes benefit from the kind of preparations fellow Kenyans undergo such that they can register similar performances at the World stage.
