Youth team wins second warm-up game in Turkey

THE U-19 national volleyball team won their second warm-up match against Fenerbache Volleyball Club Friday night. The games are part of the team’s preparations for the forthcoming World Championships due in Tijuana and Mexicali from June 27 through July 7.

THE U-19 national volleyball team won their second warm-up match against Fenerbache Volleyball Club Friday night. The games are part of the team’s preparations for the forthcoming World Championships due in Tijuana and Mexicali from June 27 through July 7.

Under the tutelage of head coach Jean Marie Nsengiyumva, the youth team won the game 3-1 (25-12, 25-23, 25-27, 25-20).

"It was an interesting game to watch for the fans, but we need to continue to play big games so as to raise the level of volleyball in the country.

"We will have a couple of games before heading to Mexico and I hope it will help the players ahead of the tournament,” said Nsengiyumva from Ankara.

The U19 team had earlier on Thursday won their first friendly game against ES Volleyball U15 of Kartal Koy Hizmetleri Academy in four sets, 25-15, 25-5, 25-16, and 25-17.

The team will play again other friendly games next week before going to Mexico ahead of the World Championships.

Rwanda will play against France, Russia, Iran and Finland in Pool C at the High Performance Centre in Tijuana. 

In Pool A, Mexico, China, Belgium, Tunisia and Poland will also play at the High Performance Centre in Tijuana, while Argentina Japan, Chile, Turkey and Cuba will compete in Pool B at the State Auditorium in Mexicali.

Pool D matches will be played in Mexicali with top-seeded Brazil and United States joined by teams from Egypt, South Korea and Algeria.
