CAF/FIFA licensed Rwandan referee Munyemana Hudu is among the six center referees who will officiate in this year’s Kagame Cup Club championship set for July 12-26 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

The five other as named by Cecafa Secretary General Nicholas Musonye include Thomas Onyango (Kenya), Charles Mbaga (Tanzania), Dennis Batte (Uganda), Bernard Habonimana (Burundi) and Abdi Abdulle (Somalia).

The Cecafa secretariat also named six assistant referees who include: Ahmed Ali (Somalia), Samuel Mbenzu (Tanzania), Juma Ali Kombo (Zanzibar), Tesfa Giorgis Berhe (Eritrea), Mussie Kinde (Ethiopia) and Hesborn Mbogo (Kenya).

Musonye said, "All referees are requested to report in Dar es Salaam latest on Thursday (July 10) to enable them participate in the cooper/medical test the following day.”

Meanwhile, Rwanda’s representatives APR and Rayon Sport depart for Tanzania on Thursday ahead of their opening over the weekend.

Nine-time and Kagame Cup defending champions APR Fc open their Cecafa/Kagame Cup defense against Tanzania giants Yanga in group C on Sunday, July 13 at Dar es Salaam stadium.

In group B on Monday, Rwanda’s second representative Rayon Sport take on last year’s beaten finalists Uganda Revenue Authority while Djibouti’s SID faces Eritrea’s Denden. 

Recently, Cecafa signed a sponsorship deal worth $140.000 with Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation (TBC) and Tanzania Breweries Limited (TBL) towards this year’s event.

President Kagame has been bankrolling Cecafa club championship to a tune of $ 60.000 in prize money since 2002.

The tournament will retain the title Kagame cup branding and TBL will be the main sponsors while TBC will be the official broadcasters.
