AS Amavubi team enhance preparations for the Group H qualifier against Algeria on Sunday, Minister of Defence, General James Kabarebe has urged the wasps to be confident in a bid to ensure victory.
On his Twitter handle, @JamesKabarebe, the APR and Barcelona supporter said, "Amavubi are capable of doing much better! We need to be confident.”
He further stated that Rwandan Football can advance if the right things are done well.
"Establishing football infrastructure up to villages, institutions, train trainers, youth development and professional discipline will help Rwandan football,” added Minister Kabarebe.
The encouraging statements should send a message to the Amavubi team who stunned Mali following a 1-all draw in Bamako to stage another industrious performance against Algeria on Sunday.
The Desert Foxes won the first leg 4-0 in Algiers last year.
Rwanda will take on Algeria without midfielder Haruna Niyonzima who was suspended in last weekend’s Mali qualifier.
Amavubi’s chances of qualifying for the world and African nations cup qualifiers are over but Coach Eric Nshyimimana will take some positives in the performance of his team away from home and will certainly hope that they are in right shape to face Ethiopia next month in the CHAN qualifiers.
The 43 year old took the reign from Milutin Sredojevic Micho in April after the sacking of the Serb and was given a one year contract.
Rwanda with only two points can only manage a maximum of eight points if they win the remaining two matches against Algeria at home and away to Benin.
The Desert Foxes top Group H with nine points while Mali are second with 7 points and Benin are third at four points.
