The much awaited African Gospel Music Awards, (AGMA) is back, with more vivacity, spirit and praise than ever. Three celebrated Rwandan gospel musicians are among various nominees from different parts of Africa, who will be honoured at AGMA for their contribution to the development of the gospel music in Africa.

Three celebrated Rwandan gospel musicians are among various nominees from different parts of Africa, who will be honoured at AGMA for their contribution to the development of the gospel music in Africa.
Rwanda’s Alphonse Bahati, Gaby Irene Kamanzi and Patient Bizimana, are competing with gospel artistes from Burundi and DR Congo in the category of Central African Artiste of the Year.
"I’m excited to be nominated for Africa Gospel Music Awards,” said Bahati. "This is my first time to participate in this competition, so an award of any calibre means a lot to me.”
"Last year, the Central African Artiste of the Year title went a Congolese gospel artiste but I’m very optimistic that 2013 is our year and we request Rwandans to start voting,” said the Groove Awards 2013 winner, Bahati when asked what they wish Rwandans should do.
The 39-year-old singer-songwriter urged local musicians to use their talent for social good. He also challenged relevant ministries to support the music industry and inspire young talented musicians to explore their performing and singing abilities to international level.
The 4th edition of AGMA, according to the organisers, will take place in London at the prestigious Great Hall of Queen Mary’s University on Saturday, July 6, 2013.
The AGMA is an event organised to promote African gospel music and to unite both current and legendary gospel artistes from around the globe. The red carpet event will feature energetic ministrations from highly talented musicians.
Artistes include UK-based Rwandan gospel singer Jackie Mugabo, Cwesi Oteng from Ghana, Tehila Crew of Nigeria, DR Congo’s Dena Mwana, Charisma Hanekam from South Africa, U.S-based Cameroon artiste Josephine Atanga and UK-based Kenyan musician Beatrice Muniu.
Isabella Uzodike (Nigeria/UK), Isaac Frempong (Ghana/UK) Myco Chris (Uganda/UK) and JayEss are also expected to perform at the event. The ceremony will be hosted by comedian MC Mark, TV host Praise Asemota and Worship Leader Shola Victor-Sajowa.
Awards will be presented to individuals and organisations voted for by the public. Four AGMA special awards will also be presented.
