National sitting volleyball league champions, Gisagara are the winners of the inaugural sitting volleyball genocide memorial tournament held over the weekend at NPC Gymnasium at Amahoro National Stadium.
SundayFinalGisagara 3-0 Intwali-GasaboThird place playoffGatagara-Huye 3-0 GicumbiNational sitting volleyball league champions, Gisagara are the winners of the inaugural sitting volleyball genocide memorial tournament held over the weekend at NPC Gymnasium at Amahoro National Stadium.The one-day tournament attracted four local men’s teams namely: Gisagara, Gatagara-Huye, Intwali-Gasabo and Gicumbi. Gisagara beat Intwali-Gasabo in three straight sets, 25-18, 25-23 and 27-25.In semifinals, Gisagara saw-off Gatagara-Huye, while Intwali-Gasabo knocked out Gicumbi. Afterwards, National Paralympic Committee president, Celestin Nzeyimana told Times Sport, "The tournament was really great, our Paralympians put up a good game for the fans and we hope to make it even better next year.”He added, "This sport only started in Rwanda in 2008, but we have members of our fraternity and Paralympians, who were physically handicapped as a result of the 1994 Genocide against Tusti and others, who were injured and/or handicapped during the struggle to liberate the country.”
