Five Rwandan athletes are heading to Kenya to enhance their preparations for the upcoming World Athletics Championship as well as the Francophone Games. The athletes include; Claudette Mukasakindi [10,000m], Frederick Habakurama [marathon] and Eric Sebahire, who will take part in the 2013 Francophonie Games due to be held in Nice, France in September.Robert Kajuga [10,000m] and Jean Pierre Mvuyekure [marathon] are the other athletes, who will be gearing up for the World Athletics Championships set to be held in Moscow in August. The pair secured qualification for the World Athletics Championships after getting the minimum requirements at last year’s London Olympic Games. The Rwanda Athletics Federation Secretary General Johnson Rukundo confirmed the development yesterday."We want to send these athletes to Kenya such that they can enhance their preparations ahead of the World Championships due in August and September,” he said."They will be based in Ngong as they train with other Kenyan athletes. We believe this is the only way, they will improve and be able to compete against the Kenyans at the world stage,” added Rukundo.According to the official, ideally, five athletes would bee training at the Rulindo-based centre but since it is not well equipped, thus the decision to take them to Kenya."The Rulindo training centre is not well equipped as yet and it may take some time that is why we have decided to reserve it for the juniors as we fit beds and other facilities,” Rukundo explained.
