Irish potato prices have gone up, with a kilogramme of Irish potatoes now at between Rwf210 and Rwf220 in all the major markets across the city. This is an increase of about Rwf100 from Rwf190, a mini-survey conducted by Business Times has discovered.Deanne Irakoze, a vendor in Kimihurura Market, attributed the increase to a decrease in supply of Irish potatoes. "Farmers still depend on the traditional seasons of wet and dry. This affects supply in the dry season,” he said. He urged the government to promote irrigation to ensure a steady supply of foodstuffs,.A kilogramme of bananas is at Rwf180 in Gikondo, Remera and Nyarugenge markets, rice from Tanzania costs Rwf900 while that from Pakistani is at Rwf700. Beef prices are unchanged at Rwf2,000, while a kilogramme of groundnuts costs Rwf1,200 and beans Rwf450. Wheat flour and soya beans cost Rwf800 a kilogramme.
