RWANDA’S men and women teams have been knocked out of the on-going FIVB U-23 Beach Volleyball World Championship in Myslowice, Poland.

The women’s pair of Charlotte Nzayisenga and Denyse Mutatsimpundu was the first to be eliminated after losing 2-0 to Germany in their final Pool F match Friday evening.

The Rwandan pair lost 21-15 and 21-9 in 27 minutes to finish last in their pool after losing all their group matches against leaders Germany, Czech Republic and Italy.

The men’s pair of Olivier Ntagengwa and Thierry Mugabo defied odds and won their last group game against Egyptian pair of Elaskolany and Roshdy 2-1 to book a place in the first round.

The pair beat their African counterparts 14-21 and 22-20 and 15-8 in forty two minutes to draw Mexico in the first round.

However, their quest to reach the second round was cut short when Mexican pair of Revuelta and Galindo beat them 2-0 [21-17 and 21-13] in just 34 minutes.

Ntagengwa and Mugabo have finished the tournament ranked 17th, best ranked African team with 112 points, while Mutatsimpundu and Nzayisenga are ranked 25th together with Kenyan pair of Gaudencia and Too on 84 points respectively.
