The construction of an artificial turf at Nyamirambo stadium is set to climax before the end of this month, Ferwafa has confirmed.
The Federation’s Chief Executive Officer, Jules Kalisa yesterday confirmed that the stadium will be declared fit for use by the end of September.
Kalisa also said that the stadium’s internal renovation costs will be footed by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, Investment, Tourism and Cooperatives (Minicom).
"We (Ferwafa) did our part and the rest is left for Minicom,” Kalisa added. The construction of the artificial turf at Nyamirambo stadium started back in March and is estimated at US$350,000-700,000.
The offer was pledged by the international soccer governing body, FIFA, in their "Win for Africa with Africa” project which is meant to help World Cup bound teams play warm up games across the continent before the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
If Nyamirambo stadium is officially declared fit by Fifa, Rwanda will have a green light as far as hosting some warm-up games for the 2010 World Cup is concerned.
