The search for the country’s newest singing talent continues in the Western Province tomorrow. Singers will perform in a closed audition at Rusizi stadium. This audition is part of the second annual Talentum talent search competition.Speaking to The New Times, the CEO of Talentum, Gaston Rurangwa said the competition provides an avenue for people with talent to get discovered."Talentum gives the perfect platform for potentials to showcase their talents and we are confident that we will continue to discover the best talent the country has to offer,” says Rurangwa."Our primary objective is to represent the vast array of musical styles. We invite submissions from all genres, including Gospel, Contemporary, Rock, Afrobeat, Rap/Hip-Hop and Folk,” he adds.The second edition of Talentum started on May 11. It has currently registered 19 contestants from Huye, Musanze, Kayonza and Kigali City. To qualify for the competition, the contestants are only allowed to perform local songs or their original compositions. Rurangwa said the judges evaluate the contestants based on a certain criteria focusing on voice, pitch, phrasing, stage presence and overall entertainment.The winner gets a recording deal with some of the country’s leading music studios, Rwf1million cash and a chance to participate in every music workshop of their choice in Rwanda. The 2nd-5th runners-up will receive Rwf50.000 each and a recording deal.Rurangwa urges the contestants to make the best of this great opportunity.The final of the Talentum competition will take place on Sunday, June 23, at the Sports View hotel in Remera.David A. Biza is the reigning Talentum winner.The competition is organised by Talent Detection ltd, Ikirezi Group ltd and Ipromo ltd, in partnership with the National Youth Council of Rwanda.
