Paralympics set to benefit from Confejes aid

The National Paralympics Committee (NPC) has landed a one-year sponsorship package from the African Sports Ministries Confederation(Confejes) to enable local athletes enhance their skills.

The National Paralympics Committee (NPC) has landed a one-year sponsorship package from the African Sports Ministries Confederation(Confejes) to enable local athletes enhance their skills.

The sponsorship is monthly cash package (not disclosed) to nine athletes to enable them enhance their skills ahead of the national and European championships.

The nine athletes set to benefit from the sponsorship include Claude Nzayisenga, Alphonse Mukadayisenga, and Hermas Muvunyi; all take part in 100 metres event.

The rest are Theoneste Nsengimana, (5000m), Oliver Akobasenga (200m), Lysha Kwizera (Cycling), Sylvester Karema (weight lifting), Moussa Turamyimana and Patrick Mbarushimana (Swimming).

The package is set to help Muvunyi beat the minimum qualification standards in the Berlin Paralympics championship later this month to qualify for this year’s Beijing Paralympics Games due in China from September 6-17.
