Working for your ex is okay, but things work differently in Africa

Editor, well said Sheila. However, I think you are half right. In Africa things work differently. Even if your boss was an employee just like yourself but because the recourse functions do not work as they should you can be sure that you will be submitting yourself to guaranteed misery.

Editor,

Well said Sheila. However, I think you are half right. In Africa things work differently. Even if your boss was an employee just like yourself but because the recourse functions do not work as they should you can be sure that you will be submitting yourself to guaranteed misery.

But if you are lucky that the company you are going to be working for has a culture of transparency and observes the rule of law – e.g. you can report instances of harassment without fear of a backlash, can contest your boss’s evaluation of your performance, etc – then definitely one should go for it. Good luck.
