After outing a series of individual hits, US-based Rwandan singers The Ben, Meddy and K8, aka Kavuyo have released a song titled "Ndi uw'i Kigali” (I am from Kigali) to show their fans that they have not forgotten their roots.
The trio teamed up with US-based Rwandan producer Lick Lick to work on the song under their Chicago-based label Press One Entertainment.
According to Meddy, the song is to show that despite living in the US, they have not forgotten that they are from Kigali, Rwanda and that they are proud to say that.
"This song is a message to whoever is wondering where we come from. We are from Kigali, Rwanda and that is where we belong,” the ‘Holy Spirit” singer said of the song.
The danceable track in which rapper K8 joins the RnB stars is likely to grace the airwaves like all their songs they released after relocating to America.
Meddy has released ‘Holy Spirit’, ‘Urambabaza’ and ‘Ni jyewe’ which are currently popular in Rwanda, while The Ben’s ‘I am in Love’ and ‘She’s Amazing’ have equally received massive airplay.
K8 too has released ‘Ntibayoka’ and ‘Afande’ which were well received.
While K8 is pursuing his education career, the relocation of The Ben and Meddy to the US fuelled speculation about their music career but the singers have been able to make it up to their fans by releasing a series of songs which have been loved.
Since they were joined by producers Lick Lick and Cedru, along with RnB singer Emmy, the Rwandan musicians have been able to work on several projects to the delight of their fans.
The singers have been quoted in different media outlets saying that they are planning a homecoming concert in Kigali but the date and venue are yet to be announced.
