The First Lady of Rwanda, Jeannette Kagame, yesterday called upon students to always be custodians of their culture wherever they go.
Mrs Kagame offered the advice yesterday to 52 students who were completing their secondary school and 12th grade during the 11th graduation of Green Hills Academy.
She encouraged them to study hard, using the opportunities at their school, develop good habits and take good care of their bodies.
"The ground has been levelled and you’ve used it efficiently. If you therefore put your strength together, nothing can stop you from achieving your dreams. We are looking forward to seeing you taking your rightful places of leadership,” she said.
Mrs Kagame also advised the students to always use social media including Facebook and Twitter responsibly and teach social media skills to their parents.
Professor Anastase Shyaka, who has been a mentor to the graduating students, encouraged them to nurture the good qualities and values they acquired during their stay at the school.
He also urged them to always be confident and critical thinkers who always aim high as well as dream big.
One of the graduating students, Ines Giramata, said that she has learnt a lot during her time at Green Hills including public speaking and photography among other life skills.
"The end of our high school is the entrance to the responsibility world and we will go through it day by day. We are going to seize every moment from this day on and we’ll forever be indebted to our parents and school for the great contribution in our education and success,” she said.
Green Hills Academy is a day school consisting of a Nursery, Primary, and Secondary School in Kigali.
