THE Prime Minister Dr. Pierre Damien Habumuremyi will this afternoon officially launch a sports program dubbed ‘Sports for All’ at Amahoro stadium.The development was confirmed yesterday by the Ministry of Sports and Culture officials.In a statement from Minispoc’s Public Relations department, ‘Sports for All’ is a sports program that was developed by the Ministry of Sports and Culture to uphold the sports development agenda.The initiative will be launched at the stadium but will be preceded with a march from Kimihurura roundabout to the Amahoro stadium. The march will attract participants from government and private institutions near and from Kacyiru, Nyarugenge and Kimihurura.Others will start from Kicukiro heading to the stadium. The Government of Rwanda through the Ministry of Sports and Culture has boosted sports at all levels from school children and communities to public and private workers.Uniquely, in Rwanda sports is understood as a vehicle for uniting the country at all levels and promoting development.This vision translated into grassroots actions has produced evident success on the courts, tracks and pitches of Rwanda. Notably, Rwanda in a short time has achieved impressive titles in Football, Basketball, Cycling and VolleyBall on the Continent.The Ministry of Sport and Culture recognises sports as one of the pillars of social transformation and development in society. The Rwandan Government has adopted a national policy of dedicating Friday afternoons to sports in all public institutions. This national policy has also been widely adopted by the private sector.The Country has also embarked on a goal to provide equitable access to sports for all.  This is understood to make positive contributions towards public health, national identity, and social harmony.
