NELSON Mudanyi chose the ultimate occasion to win his maiden professional tournament after clinching the 2013 Burundi Open title in Bujumbura on Thursday.The Kenyan ended the fourth round with a score of two under 67 to finish the four-day tournament with a gross score of 282, which is two under, one shot ahead of second-paced David Odhiambo, who carded one under 70 on Thursday.Last year’s winner, Dimas Ndiza finished level, in third place despite producing a fine round of four under 67 in the final round. Another Kenyan David Wakhu finished fourth with one over.‘I came here with high belief and I am happy to win my first professional title. I hope to come back next year to defend my title,’ Mudanyi told Times Sport.Rwanda’s Jean Baptiste Hakizimana tied in fifth position with the third round overnight leader Richard Ainley at two over, while Ernest Ndayisaba carded a total of four over to finish sixth. Emmnuel Ruterana endured a difficult day four of eight over 79 to settle for tenth.The top ten shared the USD10,000 cash prize money with the winner walking away with USD2400. The four-day tournament was sponsored by Interbank Burundi, Brarudi, Roca Golf Hotel and RwandAir among others
