Gaby  Irene Kamanzi has been selected to represent Rwanda in the 2013 Groove Awards in Kenya as one of the nominees in Artiste of the year category (Rwanda).The invite only black tie event will be held at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) tomorrow at 6pm.  The 8th edition of the gospel music awards is organised by leading integrated communications provider Safaricom Limited and Mo Sound Entertainment.Kamanzi, 30, started singing in 1999 in the Restoration Church Choir. She became more popular in the music industry in 2003 after appearing in Aime Uwimana’s, Mbeshejweho n’Urukundo song.Her 2009 track, Amahoro, marked the start of Kamanzi’s success. The song topped several charts around town, including the secular ones. She however slowed down after that year, though she never ceased to excite fans at a number of local gigs. Groove AwardsThe awards, structured into 29 different categories, will be awarded to gospel musicians, DJs, producers and radio and television gospel shows that will be voted in by members of the public.Size 8, DK Kwenye Beat, Willy Paul and Kris Eh Baba will perform during the glitzy invite only ceremony to  be televised live on KTN. Other acts lined up to perform during East Africa’s largest gospel event include Hope Kid, B.M.F, Mwenye Haki & Pitson, Dennis Mutara, Guardian Angel, Mercy D Lai and Zambian gospel sensation Mag 44.Male Artiste of the Year, Female Artiste of the Year, Song of the Year, Video of the Year and Album of the Year are some of the hotly contested categories. Over the years the awards have grown to include the Eastern Africa region.
