Scholars from member states of the East African Community have called for the harmonisation of land tenure system is within the regional bloc. The call was made on Monday dons from different EAC universities in the departments of land survey and land related administration during a two day conference held in Musanze district. The meeting that was also attended by officials from the Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD), came up with a draft tenure system. "One major problem is the mixed land tenure system, without a harmonised system, is difficult to operate,” said Gordon Wayomba, from the Technical University of Kenya.    The framework which is being drafted is expected to be launched in mid-July during the annual meeting. The meeting will be hosted in Rwanda by INES Ruhengeri and governmental institutions dealing with land related issues from Eastern Africa will be present.
