Residents of Musanze town in the Northern Province were over the weekend treated to mesmerising performances by artistes signed under Telecom giants MTN Rwanda as its ‘ambassadors’.Songbird Knowless, rapper Jay Polly and Afrobeat singer Uncle Austin performed before the joyous residents of the chilly town, giving them a rare up close act, to the delight of those who turned up.Despite having performed earlier in Nyanza, Southern Province, during the Primus Guma Guma Superstar Season three road show, Knowless did not show any signs of tiredness. She freely mixed and mingled with the delighted residents of Musanze.The ‘Nzabampari’ singer charmed the audience which was also treated to impressive performances by the ‘MTN Queen dancers’.The show in Musanze was part of MTN’s new campaign to reach out to its subscribers through music and introducing some of its new products.The countrywide campaign dubbed ‘Welcome to the new World’ will see MTN unveil its new re-branded features.The campaign has already been to Nyagatare in Eastern Province and Huye in the south. On Sunday, the show went to Rubavu by the shores of Lake Kivu where again the artistes performed before a big crowd.Knowless and Jay Polly particularly were shown lots of love by their fans, while Uncle Austin and Orchestre Imanzi too elicited great performances which were appreciated by the fans.According to Alain Numa, the MTN Sponsorship and Promotional Coordinator, the campaign has attracted a lot of attention upcountry."Our customers have welcomed this new campaign. Our expectations are being met. People appreciate our new innovative products and offers. Lots of prizes have been won and there is a lot more to be won,” Numa told The New Times.The campaign is part of the activities to mark 15 years of MTN’s existence. It will be crowned in Kigali with a mega comedy show, whose dates are yet to be announced.Shortly after their performances, the musicians handed over prizes, including phones to the winners in Musanze town.The telecom company is currently running a series of promotions aimed at exciting its clients, including the most recent dubbed ‘Yora Cash’.
