Esperance pip Gicumbi to win second division title

AFTER a long wait, Esperance FC claimed this year’s second division football league title after a 2-1 win over Gicumbi on Sunday at Amahoro stadium.

We  are extremely happy”"We are going to prepare fully for the the top flight division league next season. We want to recruit new players in a bid to strengthen the club.”In the third place play-off, Sunrise beat Bugesera 1-0. Besides the trophy, Esperance were awarded with Rwf. 2.5 million courtesy of Ministry of Sports and Culture. Gicumbi pocketed Rwf. 2 million while third and fourth finishers Sunrise and Bugesera each pocketed Rwf. 1.5m and Rwf. 1 million respectively.The Kimisagara based Esperance FC saw off Sunrise in semi-finals 3-1 on aggregate  while Gicumbi FC also brushed aside the favourites Bugesera FC on a 2-all draw away goal rule to reach the final and snatch a place in Primus national league next season.Esperance and Gicumbi will replace Etincelles and Isonga who have been relegated from this season’s Primus National Football League.
