PRIMUS National Football League side Police FC has signed Ugandan coach Sam Ssimbwa on a two-year contract according to Ugandan media.The club chairman Alphonse Katarebe confirmed the development yesterday. When Times Sport reached him on phone while in Burundi, Katarebe said, "I left Kigali for Bujumbura on Friday with Ssimbwa expected to finalise talks with Police Fc administrators.” "Though I don’t have much details on the issue, I hope it was a done deal and I believe Ssimbwa is the new coach of Police FC,” added Katarebe.Efforts to reach Ssimbwa on his Ugandan phone number were futile as it was switched off by press time.Ssimbwa will replace Serbian Goran Kopunovic who has failed to win any silverware for the club. Kopunovic’s contract ends on July 1st and will not be renewed. The Serb joined the club three years ago and has taken them to two Peace cup finals, an outing in the Caf confederations and the law enforcers have finished second two years in row.Ssimbwa who has been jobless since January after amicably parting ways with Ugandan University side SC Victoria is set to commence his duties at the kick off of the 2013/14 Primus National Football league season.It will be Ssimbwa’s second stint as coach in Rwanda after managing Atraco FC in 2006 but never won any silverware with the club before he was sacked.His first major task will be to wrestle the league title from champions Rayon Sport who won the title on 57 points five ahead of Police FC who finished second on the 14 team log.Ssimbwa is one of the most experienced coaches in the region but has only won one league title with Express FC in 2011/12. He has however won two Uganda Cup trophies with Mbale Heroes (2009) and Express FC (2007).
