Former Rwanda national team coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has been named the new Uganda Cranes boss after he signed a two-year deal in Kampala on Tuesday.
The Serbian was presented to the Ugandan media at Fufa House, ending a month of speculation over the new coach following the sacking of Bobby Williamson last month.
Bobby Williamson was sacked by FUFA about two months ago after the cranes 2-0 loss to Liberia in the 2014 World Cup Qualifiers. Williamson won four regional Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup titles with Cranes
The 43-year-old Micho was also sacked by Rwanda the same month for the same faltering World Cup campaigns.
Micho will be assisted by former Atraco coach Sam Timbe, who now coaches Uganda Police FC, Bul Bidco coach Kefa Kisala and goalkeeping coach Fred Kajoba.
This will be Micho’s second time coaching in Uganda having spent two and a half years as SC Villa coach (2002-2004), where he won two league titles, one Uganda Cup and a Cecafa-Kagame Cup.
His first assignment will see him lead the Cranes against Liberia and Angola in the two home World Cup qualifying games next month.
