APR face Simba in Kagame Cup

Three-time champions APR FC have been drawn against Tanzanian giants Simba in Group A of the 2013 Cecafa/Kagame Club Championship which will be held in North Darfur and South Kordofan from June 18 to July 4.

2013 Kagame Cup Club ChampionshipGroup A: APR [Rwa], Merreikh Al Fasher [Sud], Simba [Tan], Elman [Som]Group B: Al Hilal Kadugle [Sud], Tusker [Ken], Al Nasr [S.Sudan], Falcons [Zan], Al Ahly Shandy [Sud]Group C: Yanga [Tan], Express [Uga], Ports [Dji], Vital’o [Bur]FixturesJune 20El Man    vs    APR   2pm June 23APR     vs     Simba  1pm June 26Merreikh Al Fasher   vs     APR   3pmThree-time champions APR FC have been drawn against Tanzanian giants Simba in Group A of the 2013 Cecafa/Kagame Club Championship which will be held in North Darfur and South Kordofan from June 18 to July 4.The draws for this year’s competition done on Tuesday in Khartoum also pitted the 13-time Rwandan league champions along with Merreikh Al Fasher of North Darfur and Elman of Somalia.The military side starts its quest for the fourth regional title on June 20 against Somalia’s El Man at Al Fasher stadium; then play against Tanzanian champions Simba three days later before winding up their group campaign against Merreikh Al Fasher on June 26.Group B comprises of Al Hilal Kadugle of South Kordofan in Sudan, Tusker from Kenya, Al Nasr from South Sudan, Falcons from Zanzibar and Al Ahly Shandy from Southern Kordofan in Sudan.Two-time defending champions Yanga have been drawn in Group C alongside Express FC of Uganda, Ports of Djibouti and Vital’o of Burundi.Group A and C clubs will be based in Al Fasher, while Group C matches will be played in Kadugle.The top two teams in each group and the two best third-placed from group A and C will qualify to the quarter-finals.According to Cecafa Secretary General Nicholas Musonye, dates and times for the quarter-finals and semi-final matches will be decided after the group stage.The two-week long competition will see the winners sharing the $80,000 prize money staked by President Paul Kagame and a new sponsor, Mr. Mwangi from Tanzania.APR FC have won the Kagame Cup title three times in 2004, 2007, 2010.
