Four-time champions AS Kigali are close to retaining the national women football league title after adding another three points albeit without dropping a sweat or kicking a ball. The City of Kigali sponsored side ‘won’ their game against Urumuri, who did not show up at Stade de Kigali in Nyamirambo on Saturday.AS Kigali now need just one point from their remaining four league matches to win their fifth consecutive Rwandan women league title.Grace Nyinawumuntu’s team still have to play against The Winners, Kamonyi, Inyemera and Les Lionnais.AS Kigali lead the table with 48 points, 12 point ahead of second-placed Kamonyi, The Winners are third with 33 points. Urumuri are bottom of the 12-team table standing with three points after 16 rounds of matches.   Nyinawumuntu said, "It is impossible for anyone to catch us or even stop us from wining the league, but even if we need just a point from four games, our target is to win all four and end the season without dropping a single point, which will be a record.”However, the match between APR and Bugesera was abandoned after the home team (Bugesera) walked off the field in protest to what they perceived to be a dubious goal in the 75th minute but was allowed by referee Guestave Kayitakire. The case is now in the hands of the national football governing body, Ferwafa to decide.
