Northern province should tap into resources it is endowed with to accelerate development, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Local Government, Vincent Munyeshyaka, has said.Munyeshyaka was addressing local leaders from sector to provincial level in Musanze District on Sunday during the closure of a two-day leadership retreat aimed at enhancing capacity of the leaders. He said the potential of each district can be used effectively to achieve Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Strategy  (DPRS2) and lead Rwanda to the middle income country status by 2017. EDPRS is a tool adopted by government to guide the country’s medium-term development ambitions.  "As leaders we should work hard and be exemplary, there is need for strong love for the country, and this does not mean loving the country’s mountains or land but Rwandans. It requires hard work, we should also be self reliant,” Munyeshyaka said. The provincial governor, Aime Bosenibamwe, said the retreat was organised to have the common understanding and chart out ways to develop the province. "We want our province to play a crucial role in the country’s growth and this can only be championed by you. We need a people-centred leadership,” Bosenibamwe said.Senator Tito Rutaremara urged the leaders to be more patriotic and to rally people in their respective localities to participate in the parliamentary elections scheduled in November this year.
