Dear Doctor;I drink lots of water, at least 8-10 glasses a day, especially because my food appetite is low so I prefer to drink. I heard that too much water might also be bad for the body sometimes. I am wondering how much is too much and how bad can water be? Isaac, 32.

I am wondering how much is too much and how bad can water be? Isaac, 32.Dear Isaac, I am surprised as to why you drink more water when your appetite is low. Drinking water has multiple health benefits but drinking in excess of 8-10 glasses can be bad.
Drinking water before a meal induces a sense of fullness and reduces appetite. Therefore avoid drinking water before eating. Excess water can impair electrolyte equilibrium of the body causing muscle cramps and weakness. It can also put a load on the circulation, heart and kidney leading to their damage over some time.
