While looking for a hangout to review for this weekend’s Sunday Mag, I hit the road and headed to Milima Restaurant, which is located at the swanky Serena Hotel Kigali.
While looking for a hangout to review for this weekend’s Sunday Mag, I hit the road and headed to Milima Restaurant, which is located at the swanky Serena Hotel Kigali.
I was impressed right from the checkpoint at the entrance that leads to the lounge where the guards where so receptive and welcomed me with warm smiles accompanied by a "how are you doing and how is your day so far?”
I must admit I don’t get a lot of that here; on the contrary, am usually greeted with a mean-looking, wrinkling face, or ignored by an uncaring waitress that acts like they just didn’t notice my presence.
It was a different and beautiful story at Milima Restaurant, which overlooks Serena Hotel’s swimming pool.
Just the aura and aroma in the restaurant makes you believe that their cuisine is nothing but lip-smacking! Yes, I wasn’t disappointed. My meal at Milima Restaurant was a scrumptious one!
Before I delve into their cuisine, the restaurant has that exotic feel. I am talking décor here. The seats, table cloths and curtains blend so well. Our famous Rwandan buseke is part of the décor and only reminds me of how beautiful my country is.
The food and dessert were out of this world as the theme for the day was continental, where they served a wide range of dishes, including Asian foods.
The waiters and waitresses kept on coming back asking my colleagues and I if all was well and if we were enjoying our meal.
Milima Restaurant has different themes for each day, which include the Farmers on Mondays, which caters for different cuisines with vegetables. Tuesday is strictly French cuisine while Wednesday is African cuisine for lunch and Mongolian for dinner.
Thursday is the Oriental theme while Friday is American for lunch and African cuisine for dinner. Sunday is the family lunch which caters for children-friendly foods.
The cozy restaurant also has space outside which is right next to the swimming pool just in case you want to eat as you feel and enjoy a beach-ish environment.
The restaurant can accommodate 120 people and is open from 6:30am to 10:00pm.
