It’s yet another opportunity to participate in the biggest competition in the region– Diva Awards Afrika the only contest that recognises female achievers in East Africa. Richard Kagwa Kalule, the Chief Executive Officer Diva Awards Afrika, which awards the exemplary women in their respective social and economic fields, said that bringing the Awards to Rwanda will also help promote young talent. "There are many young talented musicians out there who have used every possible means to get where they are today, despite difficulties,” he said. Entries opened early this month and will close end of July. To participate in the competition, fill the online form on: http://www.divamusicawards.com.Kalule told The New Times in an interview, that Diva Music Awards/Rwanda 2013 is organised in collaboration with ABA Events association."We realised that female artistes in Rwanda are working so hard to get to regional and international market, so we want to encourage them by recognising them,” said Kalule."Empowering female achievers will help influence the society for the better,” he said. Kalule said the competition will be fair and open.The company, has for the last four years, awarded outstanding female musicians in Uganda and Kenya. The competition will recognise different roles, such as, role model divas in the fields of sports, humanitarian work, fashion and style, media, business, ICT, theatre, sports and academia, among others. In Uganda, Diva has recognised several female musicians, including rally champion Susan Muwonge and musicians, Desire Luzinda, Irene Namubiru, Halima Namakula and Angela Katatumba among others. In September, the organisation will hold a Gala night in Kigali to officially launch in Rwanda.
