Rwandan national champion Giancarlo Davite and his navigator Slyvia Vindevogel are already in Lusaka for the Zambia International Rally which is scheduled to be staged in and around Lusaka from May 17 to 19. The rally is the third round of the 2013 African Rally Championship series.
Rwandan national champion Giancarlo Davite and his navigator Slyvia Vindevogel are already in Lusaka for the Zambia International Rally which is scheduled to be staged in and around Lusaka from May 17 to 19. The rally is the third round of the 2013 African Rally Championship series.The pair left the country at the weekend via Zimbabwe to test their Mistubishi Evo X in Harare before heading to Lusaka where Davite is aiming to win as he bids to stay in the race for the Africa Rally Championship title.The Italy-born driver will go into the weekend rally aiming to build on the 15 points he earned at the Sasol/ARC International Championship in South Africa last month.He is fourth on the ARC standings, ten points behind joint leaders Eric Pages of Cote d’Ivoire and Jan Habig of South Africa.The Puma Zambia International Rally will be the third round of the ARC and also the second round of the Zambian national championship.Foreign drivers started arriving in Lusaka at the start of this week. They include Jas Mangat of Uganda and Jaspret Singh Chattn of Kenya.Zambia Motor Sport Association vice-president for Motor Sport Sam Ching’ambu said they are still awaiting confirmation from Zimbabwean drivers.The championship will start off on Friday with a special stage at the Lusaka Showgrounds
