TODAY IS Mother’s Day, a perfect time to celebrate our mothers and all their wonderful qualities. Sunday TimesMartin Bishop asked a few people how they are celebrating this day:

Just spending Mothers Day with my mother is a gift good enough for me. She knows how much I treasure her. This time I collected all her favourite old music and will play it for her as we have a chat all day. Fabiola Umuhoza, businesswoman.

I usually go through Mum’s old pictures in photo albums and scrapbooks with her. I suggest you also try it out someday; as you put the books together, you’ll create new lifelong memories while listening to her retelling the old ones. Gasigwa Ronald, MD, Intertechnologies.

Today I’m writing her a letter telling her that I love her and everything she has done for me. I want to make her feel like she is the luckiest mum in the world. Queen Kay, artiste.

I will use words of appreciation and encouragement, words to warm her heart and make her feel like the special woman she is. I’ll sit by her side and thank her for all she’s done for me. I’ll also have an evening walk with her. Marino Coco, businesswoman.

Spending the entire day with my mother is one of the simplest and best things to do. I will simply stay at home and prepare delicious food for her while playing her favourite songs and later watch a movie with her. This will surely make her happy. Jassica Uwimana, fashion designer.

Mother’s Day is a day to stop thinking about yourself for a while and think about how you can show your mum a little appreciation. Today, besides the gifts I bought for her, I’m planning to take her out for dinner. Mathilda Marie Ange, beautician.

I’m going to cook for her one of her favourite meals. Paul Kalema, architect.

It is the most important day for me. It means a lot to me. I’ll visit her together with my daughter and give her some gifts that we have already prepared for her. I am sure we’ll have a great time together. Gladys Mitana, local actress.
