AS Kigali, La Jeunesse battle for fifth place

THE battle for the fifth place in the Primus National Football League goes down to the wire as La Jeunesse host AS Kigali on Saturday at Mumena stadium in Nyamirambo.

In the corresponding fixture, La Jeunesse came out on top 1-0.Still fresh from the 3-1 win over Musanze in the Peace Cup competition, AS Kigali head coach Andrew ‘Casa’ Gasambungo will be hoping to maintain the bright show as they will be using the game to find tune for next week’s Cup semi final first leg against holders APR FC.Six more matches will be played on Sunday with title favourites Rayon Sport facing a tricky home tie against AS Muhanga, who have also qualified for the semi finals of the Peace Cup.Police, who trail leaders Rayon by three points, will host Espoir at Kicukiro turf, while defending champions APR, who are already out of the title race, take on relegation battling Isonga FC at Stade de Kigali.Amagaju travel to Rubavu to face Marines at Umuganda stadium, while SC Kiyovu will be hoping to add more misery to relegation-bound Etincelles when the two lock horns at Mumena stadium.Last weekend, Rayon Sport moved closer to their first league title in nine years after routing Etincelles 5-0 to remain unbeaten in the league since French coach Didier Gomes da Rosa took charge in January.The Blues needs seven points from matches against Muhanga, Espoir and Musanze while second-place Police, who secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Musanze, play Amagaju, Espoir and AS Kigali in their last three games.Isonga and Etincelles occupy the bottom two places with 15 and 14 points, respectively, and both are hot favorites to drop to the second division.
