Dating is fun with the person you love and understand, however, at times it might seem boring if you don’t explore new activities and ways to enjoy together.
Most couples relish catching movies in a cozy space, or candlelight dinners, but there could be much more that can reawaken the love and romance.
According to Pearl Umuringa, having been married for two years, a happy relationship is one they have both decided to invest in with her husband.
For her, it’s easy to get frustrated with work and everything else, and if couples don’t get time to focus on each other, it’s easy for the love to fade.
She notes that she has had conversations with her husband on ways they could make marriage pleasurable, by saving some money for getaways, among other activities.
"Sometimes we are even traveling within Kigali, but away from home, from daily demands, work stress, just the two of us, and while there, we remind ourselves of what attracted us to each other. It is easy to get buried in work, parenting, and other responsibilities and fail to even appreciate your partner, with time, this creates distance,” she states.
She has no doubt that you can revamp your connection in just one weekend, at a place that you both enjoy, it can be near the water or around nature.
Umuringa explains that, any conversation with your partner can easily flow well with a road trip, ‘just fuel the car and drive away, speak about each and everything that you wouldn’t open up about in public.’
She also notes that fun activities don’t have to be costly, as you can even have fun in your kitchen by cooking together.
"When was the last time your husband, boyfriend or fiancé stepped in the kitchen? How about going grocery shopping and coming back home and cooking your favorite meals-you don’t have to be a chef. Make use of YouTube and learn how to make some dishes. While at it, you can even play simple games, and instigate the child in you. If you want the house to yourself, send the kids to your parents,” she says.
Herbert Mutabazi, an IT expert in Kanombe says that there is a connection in working out together, whether it's running, fast walking, or gyming, there is inner joy and fulfillment in doing it with your partner as it allows more time together.
He also notes that you can both learn a new skill, for example, dancing. He is certain that registering for dancing classes and attending them together is one of the ways couples can strengthen their bond, as that way, you don’t only have a romantic partner, but a friend too.
Mutabazi highlights that giving to charity would be an amazing way to offer a kind service to those in need. According to him, it is something couples can plan ahead of time, put some money aside, and purchase requirements for the deprived or patients in hospitals.
He is certain that such kind gestures remind couples of some of the principles they stand for, which would convey joy while blessing others with the little that they have.
Mutabazi also suggests setting up karaoke in your sitting room or bedroom, mime to your favorite songs, and reminisce about the good old days when you had just met.
He also further notes that sometimes the joy is in the little things, such as leaving notes behind with amazing messages, or going old school by writing a letter in ink on paper, reminding your partner why he or she is special to you.
Mutabazi elucidates that often love vanishes when one starts doubting whether they are cherished or really loved by their partners like before.
