The Republican Guard defeated Bank of Kigali 2-1. Theoneste Niyonsenga and Dieudonne Habimana scored the crucial goals to earn their team the title in the Private Institutions category. Jean Claude Habimana scored the consolation goal for Bank of Kigali.
In the Public institutions category, RSSB emerged the winner after beating EWSA 5-3 on penalties following a goalless draw in normal time.
The Ministry of Defence thumped the Ministry of Agriculture 3-1 to win the final match in the Ministry category.
In Basketball, KCB recorded a 38-30 victory over rivals Fina Bank for the private institutions category; RSSB registered a 62-36 win over RTDA in the public institutions category while the Ministry of Agriculture ensured a revenge by beating the Ministry of Defence 60-64 in the Ministry category.
In volleyball, Ecobank beat Bralirwa 3-2 in private institution category; RSSB beat NISR 3-0 in the public institutions category while Primature snatched a slim 15-10 win over Ministry of Defence after both sides played a 2-all draw in the Ministry category.
In athletics, Etienne Gashagaza from Minadef won the 400m in one minute while her compatriot in the women category; Epiphanie Uwitije used two minutes and fifty seconds to lift the 800m accolade.
Nicolas Uwihoreye from the Ministry of Sports and Culture lifted the Men’s 800 title after clocking two minutes and twenty seconds.
Jackson Nsengiyumva clocked four minutes and twenty one seconds to win the 1500m race.
The ARPST (Association Rwandaise pour la Promotion de Sport dans le milieu du Travail) tournament is held every year with private, public and government institutions taking part in different sports activities.
The final for each sporting discipline is usually played on May 1, the International Labour Day.
