The Rwandan and Ugandan heads of police have agreed to harmonise the training curricula of both forces.According to a joint communiqué signed by Emmanuel Gasana, the Rwanda National Police chief and Ugandan counterpart, Lt. Gen Kale Kayihura, the two forces will now design customised courses to address human resource development gaps in their institutions."The delegations further agreed to jointly develop and harmonise training curricula, modules and manuals,” the communiqué reads in part. The two police chiefs met at the weekend in Kampala.The delegations agreed to optimally utilise training facilities in their respective institutions in developing concepts and techniques on how to deal with emerging crimes and the use of ICT and other modern tools.They also agreed to enhance exchange training programmes among the two institutions."This will be conducted through joint exchange programmes and attachments of instructors, so that they get hands on experience on matters related to training,” the statement reads in part.To achieve this, a joint technical team was set up.Rwanda and Uganda Police forces have in the recent past held a series of meetings aimed at enhancing cooperation.In January this year, the two  Police chiefs met in Kabale, Uganda, to review the implementation of the bilateral cooperation and recommendations agreed upon by the two forces in the fight against transnational crimes and border security.
