Ruterana keen to improve his record in Burundi Open

PROFESSIONAL golfer Emmanuel Ruterana is undergoing rigorous preparations ahead of the 56-hole $10,000 Burundi Golf Open which will be held in Bujumbura on May 27.

PROFESSIONAL golfer Emmanuel Ruterana is undergoing rigorous preparations ahead of the 56-hole $10,000 Burundi Golf Open which will be held in Bujumbura on May 27.Speaking to Times Sport yesterday, Ruterana said: "I am fully focused on the upcoming competition because it is one of the competitions in the region which has given me a hard time.”"Last year, I finished 7th because the course was very small which has been a big obstacle to performance in the past editions."I am training hard everyday and plan to spend at least a week in Bujumbura before the tournament to train on that course so that I can get used to it,” Rwanda’s top golfer said. He added: "They are a few tricky technicalities on that course and if you are unable to master them, then it becomes a bit difficult to win.” Ruterana will take part in the 14th edition of the competition that will attract regional golfers from Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi and Rwanda.Muthaiga’s Nicholas Rokoine will lead the Kenyan pros at the tournament. Others are Vet Lab’s Brian Njoroge, Thika’s Simon Ngige, Ali Kimani and David Odhiambo, among others.Tanzania will be represented by two professionals at the tournament; Fadhil Nkya and Yassin Saleh.
