Intore Masamba put up a captivating show, as Dr. Jose Chameleone launched his Badilisha album at Kyadondo Rugby ground in Kampala.The "King of cultural music” put up a spirited performance, drawing excitement from the huge crowd that turned up.Masamba belted out the crowd’s favourite songs such as Nyaruguru and Iwacu muraho that delighted the fans. His group, Gakondo was also in top form."This was my first time to realise that traditional music has the power to entertain people and feel good; something that inspired me more even during my performances,” Masamba told The New Times yesterday. "I was surprised to see the crowd sing along with me. I didn’t know that Ugandans knew and loved my music,” he said.According to The Observer, the seemingly most thrilling local concert ever at Kyadondo Rugby grounds on Friday packed up the venue to brim with an estimated 20,000 plus revelers.The newspaper also reported that police deployed over 1,000 cops, 20 sniffer dogs, 15 police patrol cars and two mobile-prison buses at Kyadondo Rugby club as singer Jose Chameleone made history once again with a massive show that filled up the grounds.The region’s biggest names ranging from Professor Jay from Tanzania, Redsan from Kenya, Uganda’s ghetto gladiator Bobi Wine and many all gave their best.Other artistes who performed were Irene Namubiru, Young Mulo, Juliana Kanyomozi and Jackie Chandiru."This launch gave me an opportunity to meet and make contacts that will help me to even collaborate or work with various musicians. But another important issue is that it has given me more fans in Uganda,” Masamba said.Masamba noted that working with musicians in the region and beyond will help Rwandan artistes to promote their music in other countries. On Saturday, Masamba and his group Gakondo graced the "Rwandan Night” at Club Rouge.In a spirit of solidarity, Chameleone did songs by other musicians like Judith Babirye’s Bweyanyamba, Bebe Cool’s Kasepiki, Goodlyfe’s Mugaati gwa Butter and Bobi Wine’s Wendi. He also called on people to support Goodlyfe crew’s upcoming launch.
