President Paul Kagame is in Los Angeles, US, where he is expected to address the 16th Milken Institute Global Conference which runs from April 28 through May 1.

The conference brings together leaders from both the public and private sector to exchange ideas on innovative solutions to global challenges, according to organisers.

More than 600 speakers, including major investors, CEOs, government officials, Nobel laureates, scientists, educators, philanthropists, and journalists, will take part in more than 140 sessions at the conference.

In a session to be chaired by the institute's founder Michael Milken, President Kagame’s address will focus on "Investing in African Prosperity”, according to a statement from Village Urugwiro.

Other speakers include Bill Gates, Co-Chair and Trustee, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and Chevrion Executive Vice President of Policy and Planning Rhinda Zygocki.

President Kagame will also chair a corporate and investment round-table with key private equity investors, the statement added.

The Milken Institute Global Conference focuses on issues ranging from finance to government, medical research and education with the aim of providing insight and actionable information.

The institute was founded in 1990s by Michael Milken and Lowell Milken with the aim of capitalising on the ability of capital markets to solve socio-economic challenges through innovative economic and policy solutions and focus on job creation, access to capital and health.
