The national football Technical Director Richard Tardy, who doubles as the head coach for the U-20 and U-17 teams, has said that the search for the next U17 team is already underway. The Frenchman said that he and his scouts will be going around the whole country, like they have done the last four years, looking at young players from the grass root level, from where they will select the best of the best, who would be trained in the national academy."Now we are going across the country to get some new young players, who were born after 1998 so that we can start to prepare them before the end of the year. In June we will have good time to make the good selection for the next U17 team,” Tardy said recently. He added, "We want to use this platform to prepare the team which will represent the country in the qualifiers for the next U17 competitions, the 2016 Olympic Games and CHAN 2015.”According to Tardy, the first training will begin during the school holidays in June and again in December as most of the players are students.Rwanda made history by qualifying for the U17 FIFA World Cup in 2011 in Mexico, although the team failed to progress past the group stages.Junior wasps were knocked out following a 0-0 draw against Canada in their final group game, having lost to England and Uruguay.
