Fuadi Ndayisenga scored twice yesterday as favourites Rayon Sport came from behind to earn a crucial away victory against rivals SC Kiyovu and keep their hopes of winning this year’s Primus League alive.

The blues won 2-1 during an entertaining clash at Amahoro stadium. They now have 45 points, four ahead of Police FC, who take on Etincelles today.

Pekeyake Tuyisenge put the hosts ahead on 53rd minute, converting a brilliant cross from Djabir Mutarambirwa.

However, Ndayisenga scored an equaliser for Rayon Sport in the 69th minute, after capitalising on a defensive blunder by Alex Ngiyimana.

Julius Bakkabulindi then wasted two clear chances for the hosts while Tuyisenge failed to convert another clear chance for the league leaders.

Rayon Sport increased pressure in the dying minutes and it paid off when Nzigiyimana failed to clear a deadly ball in the goal area leaving Cedric Amissi to hit the post, and then win a penalty after the former brought him down as the two fought for the rebound.

Ndayisenga converted the free kick on the 90th minute to win the game for Rayon Sport and a double for himself on the day.  Scenes of celebration ensued as blues faithful celebrated the winner in a packed stadium.

In other matches, Isonga moved to the 13th place after securing a 2-1 win over Mukura at Stade de Kigali while defending champions APR was forced to a goalless draw against Amagaju in Nyamagabe.

Musanze moved to sixth position with 30 points after a 2-1 win over La Jeunesse with AS Kigali remaining in the fifth with 31 points after settling for a goalless draw away to Espoir n Rusizi.

Today, AS Muhanga host Marines at Stade de Muhanga in the day’s other action.

After today’s games, each team will have five matches left this season.
