About 100 motorcyclists in Kigali are wanted by the police for violating traffic related rules.The suspects allegedly committed the offences between February and March in Kigali, according to the Rwanda National Police traffic department.Jean Marie Ndushabandi, the Spokesperson Traffic and Road Safety, told The New Times on Thursday that once captured, the alleged offenders  will face the law depending on the degree of their transgressions. According to Ndushabandi, the offences committed include traffic light violation. "The motorists disappeared with their motorcycles but we recorded their number plates so Police is working together with their cooperatives to trace them,” he said, urging the wanted suspects to hand themselves in.Annulling licences Evading police attracts a fine of Rwf25,000 and this comes on top of the other charges depending on the offense committed, says police.If the motorcyclists, who are currently at large, continue to evade the police, they may cause their driving licences to be annulled under the 1987 law against traffic offenders.The National Road Traffic Act of 1987 grants powers to the courts to cancel driving licences for drivers arrested for heavy traffic offences. Motorcyclists are blamed for most accidents in the country.
