Singer ‘Dr’ Jose Chameleone has invited all artistes to Kyadondo Rugby grounds to see what he called "a music tsunami”. He says this Badilisha launch slated for April 26, will be all about celebrating a passion and not a job.

And Chameleone is a man, who knows a lot about passion for the art. In the less than two decades he has been on the East African music scene, he has managed to stay relevant and rise to become arguably Uganda’s best singer in the last 15 years.

"Those who take music as a job are those who don’t want to end wars, but the world has moved on to where they only appreciate the best,” says Chameleone, who said he brought life back to Kyadondo [after the July 2010 bomb blasts, he was the first to organise a massive show here].

Chameleone says the action-packed show is organised to celebrate and honour East African music, which is why he invited musicians like Redsan from Kenya, Tanzanian artistes Professor J and Mr Nice, as well as Masamba of Rwanda, because they have fought for the industry in the region.

"I have never been this ready for a concert. [Usually I am] nervous but it is like I am anticipating having a child; so energized and expecting to have the best of my 14 years of a music career,” says Chameleone.

"Every album is very important because it has its own memories and reminds me of a great past year. It is like driving a car; every signpost has a message that will help you reach [your destination],” says Chameleone.

The self-proclaimed music doctor says he puts his emotions into the music when composing and that aside; he is also the number one fan of Jose Chameleone so he makes sure he doesn’t disappoint his number one fan.
