Editor,I have convincing reasons to vehemently disagree with this programme. Not all the children will be able to withstand seeing those mummified bodies in memorial sites. There are so many different ways in which children can be taught about the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. First of all, children are still young and their fragile minds are not that strong to hold the trauma experiences related to the horrific scenes.I suggest the Ministry of Education makes such tour studies as the matter of option, not mandatory. I don’t think it’s a good idea to force our children to visit the memorial sites.
