APR Volleyball Club could skip the forthcoming Africa Men’s Club Championships due to financial constraints, Sunday Sport has learnt. The Championships will be held in Tripoli, Libya, from April 19 to May 1, but APR are contemplating to withdraw and instead concentrate on next season.

According to an insider, who didn’t want to be named because he is not permitted to speak in the media on behalf of the club, the league champions are struggling to raise enough funds for the trip.

"What I can tell you is that we might not take part in this year Africa Club Championships because the team has financial constraints. We have not even joined camp and it’s five days left to the tournament,” the source revealed. However, APR chairman Jean Bosco Muyango, is still optimistic that the team will play at the tournament. He said, "We will know our position Monday, so for now I cannot confirm to you anything because everything is still possible.”

The competition will bring together the best clubs on the continent.
